Landscapes

This body of work stands as a record of Dean Miller’s interaction with incredible landscapes from all corners of the world.

Every composition contains material from each location he chooses to paint. In preparation for each of these incredible pieces, the substance gathered from that specific area is crushed and meticulously filtered. The course and fine sediment is then separated, providing a wide variety of textures and colours to work from. This, mixed with selected binders produces the paint which is then used to recreate the scene, effectively painting the landscape with the actual source of its original inspiration.

Alongside the material from the site, he introduces an assortment of other mineral rocks to add additional colour and authenticity to the paintings. This consists of Lapis Lazulite, Malachite, Mica, Pyrite, Fuchsite and Crackle Quartz among countless others.

By incorporating the actual elements of each scene in these pieces, he forever preserves his living experience with that setting, giving true originality to these dynamic, one of a kind works of art.
